Why Visiting a Farm is a Super Idea!

Planting seeds of wonder into future generations is even more important than ever. We believe hands on learning experiences at Cariboo Blue Farm can help close the gaps of where our food comes from.

Cariboo Blue Farm has developed a rigorous business plan and has aspirations to offer people of all ages On-Farm Experiences via our Educational Farm Animal Zoo and On-Farm Workshops. We are developing workshops that are rewarding, and can indirectly teach children and youth valuable life skills such as responsibility, problem-solving and decision making.

Farming can be very educational! By experiencing life on a farm, it is easy to appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into growing and harvesting crops as well as raising and caring for livestock. Making connections between farm animals and the food chain can act as an important lesson in the cycle of life. Feeding, watering, cleaning, grooming farm animals teaches responsibility. These experiences may open doors to learning the skills necessary to care for other living things while also learning the responsibility required for the production of farm-grown produce.

For our younger generation, these responsibilities can transfer to other areas of life including classroom activity and social interaction with others. Those who are actively engaged with farming activities can develop knowledge, skills and have an understanding that helps them to make sense of the importance of farming. Problem solving skills can be developed by participating in activities including feeding animals, fixing fences, pulling weeds, fixing watering systems, planting crops etc. They learn ways to get chores done efficiently and develop problem-solving skills.

Spending time on a farm can change the way you see food. Eating fresh food directly from a farm may enhance children’s appreciation for healthier and diverse foods. Gaining knowledge about food and nutrition could help motivate children to eat sensibly.

Experience, Learn and Grow, the future of Cariboo Blue Farm.

Our interests for our community involve sharing knowledge, experience and our passion for self-sustainability with the next generation and connecting with our community in unique ways.

By offering direct hands-on learning experiences we hope to create an interest, and connect people with animals and agriculture, to help them better understand the connection between farming and their daily lives. You will see first-hand where your food comes from and how it is grown and raised. You will interact with animals, and children will learn compassion for other living things.

Some fun activities you may experience are holding a chick, harvest your own produce, plan and grow your own produce, collect your own eggs, how to care for chickens or cattle and even horses!

On Farm Learning Experiences

Farming teaches animal husbandry and how different animals receive different feed, why they require different types of shelter and need different care at different times.

As we embark on a journey to develop an environment for people of all ages to experience, learn and grow, we would love for you to stay connected to all the good things growing at Cariboo Blue Farm.
